Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge #45
Live Statue? Street Mime? I don’t know the official name for these street characters – they are not really mimes because they don’t move, barely blinking an eye. And being people, they aren’t really statues. But always they are inventive and entertaining! This fellow sat in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Now that is a doozy!
Definitely one of the most unusual.
The live statues are just the coolest thing ever. 😀
I’m always amazed by how perfectly still they can stand (or in this case, sit).
Interesting point about not knowing what to call these folks Marilyn. If I’m being generous I’d call them performance artists. But can not moving be called performing? But, I can believe that it’s much more difficult than it looks, and some of the costumes are very creative. ~James
I agree that not moving is definitely performing. I think it would be extremely difficult and tiring. I’m sure I would feel an itch that needed scratching! Some of those guys paint themselves with a kind of silver paint, which must be quite uncomfortable. I hope the tips they earn are worth it.
Too funny, Marilyn. Looks like he taking a break or taking something else. 🙂

I’m glad it brought a laugh!
I really liked this photo!

That definitely fits the bill for odd ball photography! 😛 What a character! I guess he was channeling everyone’s favorite parody of The Thinker? 😉
HA! He does appear to be pondering…

I think this is “live art” or something like that. I have no idea how they are able to sit or stand so incredibly still for so long.
